Cutty Sark at Night - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
Night time panorama taken next to the Cutty Sark, the last remaining 19th century clipper ship on earth. This picture was taken before restoration works stared in 2007, when the masts were still in place. Cutty Sark at Night - London visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Cutty Sark at Night' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Greater London.
Built in 1869, the Cutty Sark is the last 19th century sea clipper in existance. She is a major tourist attraction in Greenwich, currently closed to the public for restoration works following a fire in 2007. Entrance to the Cutty Sark was free to London Pass holders.
The Cutty Sark is named after a short chemise, known in Scotland as a 'cutty sark'. She plied the tea routes between London and China, and later the wool trade route between London and 102Australia, completing one crossing in just 67 days.
The Cutty Sark was installed in this purpose built dry dock in 1954, and is now managed by the Cutty Sark Trust. She is part of the Maritime Greenwich UNESCO World Heritage Site, which also includes the National Maritime Museum, Queen's House, Old Royal Naval College (next to the Cutty Sark), and Royal Observatory in Greenwich Park.
