The beach is excellent for swimming and bathing, but not so good for snorkelling.The beach is quite exposed, with a road running along the back. Behind this rise numerous hotels and hostels of all budgets. Many of the budget hotels are at the southern and northern ends of the beach. The middle part of Karon is dominated by Thavorn Palm Beach Resort and the Hilton Phuket Arcadia. Karon is popular with couples, families and Scandinavians, with several hotels catering specifically for them. Karon Beach is relatively quiet. There are not many jet skis or powerboats racing around the shoreline, but it is still possible to hire them and go water skiing or paragliding. Being quite exposed, Karon beach has a reputation for dangerous currents during the rainy season. Nearby to the south are Kata Yai beach and Kata Noi Beach. To the north are Tri Trang Beach and Freedom Beach. Travel Directions and Getting There: Car: Karon Beach is 42km south of Phuket Airport.
