Calla Morell lies on the northern coast of Menorca and is well known for two things. One is the upmarket and luxury holiday apartments and houses in the urbanitzacion and the other are the nearby man made caves. The cove has very steep cliffs that descend to a gritty beach. The streets are named after after the constellations, in Latin, and wind steeply around the cliffs. Cala Morell is very different to calas on the southern coast, like Cala Santa Galdana or Cala en Porter. There are no hotel complexes here.
Those looking for a sandy beach nearby can try Cala d'Algaiarens, though the farmer who owns the land charges an access fee.
The man made caves are found on the approach road to Call Morell. These form the largest prehistoric necropolises found to date in Europe, dating from the late Bronze and Iron Ages. The caves have supporting pillars inside, and some even have windows cut into the rock.
