The A1 highway in South Australia runs 350km north from Adelaide to Port Augusta before swinging east. The first section of the highway runs parallel to part of the Samphire Coast, and important habitat for migratory birds, full of mangrove swamps and vulnerable ecosystems.
About 35km north of Adelaide the road passes through Lower Light, a tiny settlement known for skydiving and shooting. It is the closest skydiving drop zone to Adelaide and is home to Lower Light Rifle Range, the largest and most popular rifle and shooting ranges in South Australia. Lower Light also has a small hotel and service station.
Alongside the road here are numerous sculptures made from scrap metal, of which the UFO sculpture shown in this panorama is just one.
