Lower Light is in settlement South Australia, 35 minutes north of Adelaide on the Port Wakefield Road which runs between Adelaide and Port Wakefield on the 'Samphire Coast'. At Lower Light travellers will find a rest and service station and a small hotel. Along the road are various sculptures made from scrap metal, such as the Lower Light UFO.

Lower Light is also home to a sky diving club, providing tandem sky diving and training with the nearest drop zone to Adelaide. It is also home to the Lower Light Rifle Range, the largest and most popular rifle and shooting ranges in South Australia with both Full Bore and F-Class shooting.

Close to Lower Light, the Samphire Coast is an important haven to migratory birds and an eco-tourism area with mangrove forests, samphire flats and inter-tidal seagrass meadows on sand and mud flats. The area starts at Ardrossan on the eastern coast of the Yorke Peninsula, heading north to Port Wakefield and continuing south from there to St Kilda in the northern suburbs of Adelaide. On the way it passes through Webb Beach, Thompson Beach and Middle Beach, all close to Lower Light. Much of the coastline is popular for fishing and crabbing.
