Highbury Fields covers 29 acres and is the largest open space within the London borough of Islington, running north from Highbury Corner almost as far as Highbury Barn. Most of the fields are open, grassy areas surrounded by trees. At the north end is a football court. The Fields also have at least 8 tennis courts (used by the Highbury Fields Tennis League) and a cafe. It is often used by Highbury Fields School for sports.
Alongside the west side of Highbury Fields runs Highbury Terrace, a set of terraced houses built in 1777 which can be seen though the trees in this image. The houses have been occupied by some notable people in the past, including John Wesley, Joseph Chamberlain and the Impressionist artist Walter Sickert.
