Beinn Dubh Panorama

Photographer Description of Beinn Dubh Panorama

This panorama was taken at the top of a small hill called Beinn Dubh accessed at the end of the track through Glen Strathfarrar in the Highlands of Scotland

Beinn Dubh Panorama - Further Information

Scotland has several hills named 'Beinn Dubh'. The Beinn Dubh in this virtual tour is a 574m high hill just south of Loch Monar in the Scottish Highlands, at the western end of Glen Strathfarra.

To the south are the hills of Beinn Dubh an laruinn (588m), Meallan Odhar Doire nan Gillean (601m) and Meallan Odhar (570m). The tops of some of these hills are covered in snow. The picture also shows the western end of Loch Monar. This region is not too far from Inverness and Loch Ness, and is popular with hill walkers.

The Beinn Dubh shown in this panorama must not be confused with the 511m high Beinn Dubh hill near to Loch Chon and Loch Lomomnd, much further south.

Travel Directions and Getting There:
Car: Loch Monar is about 35 miles west of [[799,Inverness]]. Take the A831 20 miles to Erchless Castle and then a narrow lane for the last 15 miles past Inchmore, Loch Beannacharan and Loch A'Mhuilidh. Near the end of the track another lane leads off to Monar Lodge, on the shores of Loch Monar.
