Troubridge Hill Lighthouse is a 32 metre high lighthouse built on Troubridge Hill (62m), close to Edithburgh on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia. It is very unusual, being constructed of custom made special wedge shaped clay bricks. This made it resistant to both high winds and earthquakes, a number of which hit the Yorke Peninsula in the early 1900's. It has never been painted or rendered, making a distinct daytime landmark.
Troubridge Hill Lighthouse has a light range of 22 nautical miles and operates off mains electricity with a backup generator. The stretch of water along this coast is very treacherous with 26 ships being lost in the area between 1849 and 1982. The lighthouse is still operational, and has also become a local tourist attraction for those visiting Edithburgh.
