Cala Santandria (Cala Santandría), just south of Ciutadella, used to be a small fishing village on Menorca. Today it has been almost totally overtaken by the hotel and tourism industry. So extensive is the development along this part of Menorca, that the cala has effectively merged with Cala Blanca and Sa Caleta to form one area of hotels, beach resorts, apartments and holiday villas.
This area is very popular with holiday makers, with great beaches which, because of the large number of hotel resorts, are well provided for in terms of facilities. The area is good for sailing and snorkeling.
The cove of Cala Santandria is very long and narrow, terminating in a sandy beach. This offers good protection from rough seas unless the waves enter directly into the cove. There is a secondary small beach part way along the inlet towards the sea, near to Es Castellar, the tower at the entrance to the inlet.
It is worth noting that, at high season, Cala Santandria can get very busy. Further south along the PM-721 are Cap d'Artruxt, the beach of Cala en Bosc and Son Xoriguer.
