Pleasance is a mainly residential street in east Ediunburgh, very close to Holyrood Park and overlooked by the Salisbury Crags. Some of the property on the street is owned by the University of Edinburgh. It has two bars, The Pleasance Bar and The Cabaret Bar, both used by the students Union.
The Pleasance is well known for it's association with the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. This association began in the 1985 festival when 2 venues were used. Today over 20 different venues host Fringe events under the Pleasance name.
