Plaza Mayor is the main square in the Old Town of Palma on Mallorca. Lying almost half way between the Parc de les Estación and Catedral de Palma de Mallorca, Plaza Mayor is a popular thoroughfare and tourist attraction, not least for the street entertainers and markets often found here. The square used to house the offices of the Inquisition, but today it is lined with galleries and cafes. As seen in this picture, Plaza Mayor can get quite busy at times.

Heading north from the square is Calle de San Miguel, which passes San Miguel church, built on the site of a former mosque. Calle Colom leads away south towards the Ajuntament de Palma de Mallorca buildings near Santa Eularia square, and on from there to the Cathedral.

At the heart of the tourist district, Plaza Mayor is surrounded by countless shops, restaurants, bars, cafes and hotels of all kinds.
