The small village of Charmouth lies at the mouth of the River Char in Dorset on the south coast of England. Just west of Lyme Regis, and 9 miles east of Bridport, Charmouth markets itself as a gateway to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. On the route of the Southwest Coast Path, it is famous for walking and fossil hunting, with extensive information about both available at the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre and Charmouth Fossils shop by Charmouth Beach. Being a popular tourist destination, it is surrounded by various Bed & Breakfast places and small hotels.

• Forde Abbey and Gardens - famous 12 century abbey and gardens owned by the Roper Family. About 7 miles from Charmouth.
• Beaminster Museum - 8 miles from Charmouth, this museum covers the history of Beaminster and the surrounding villages.

Charmouth Fossils are below the Heritage Centre. They sell both local fossils and other fossils from around the world. They will occasionally buy fossils found on Charmouth itself, but these have to be very good quality and rare fossils. The world wide fossils are sourced from Madagascar, USA, Brazil, Morocco, Italy and China among other places.

Car: Charmouth is just off the A35, about 3 miles east of Lyme Regis and 22 miles west of Dorchester.
