The small village of Charmouth lies at the mouth of the River Char in Dorset on the south coast of England. Just west of Lyme Regis, and 9 miles east of Bridport, Charmouth markets itself as a gateway to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. On the route of the Southwest Coast Path, it is famous for walking and fossil hunting, with extensive information about both available at the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre and Charmouth Fossils shop by Charmouth Beach. Being a popular tourist destination, it is surrounded by various Bed & Breakfast places and small hotels.

- Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre - museum and displays about the natural history of the area
- Charmouth Fossils - with information about fossil hunting in the area, geological hammer hire and selling fossils from around the world.
- Charmouth Beach - pebble beach below cliffs, popular for fossil hunting.
- Lyme Regis - just to the east, Lyme Regis was the home of Mary Anning and the beginning of fossil hunting on the Jurassic Coast.
- St Gabriel's Mouth walk - walk the Southwest Coast Path to this small cove and beach about 3.5 miles to the east.
- Golden Cap Viewpoint walk - Southwest Coast Path walk over Stonebarrow Hill to Golden Cap, the highest hill on the South Coast, about 4.5 miles east.
- Dinosaurland - dinosaur exhibition in Lyme Regis
- Forde Abbey and Gardens - famous 12 century abbey and gardens owned by the Roper Family. About 7 miles from Charmouth.
- Beaminster Museum - 8 miles from Charmouth, this museum covers the history of Beaminster and the surrounding villages.
- Horn Park Gardens - 8 miles from Charmouth, large and beautiful gardens, in a unique position and with magnificent views to the sea.

Charmouth Fossils are below the Heritage Centre. They sell both local fossils and other fossils from around the world. They will occasionally buy fossils found on Charmouth itself, but these have to be very good quality and rare fossils. The world wide fossils are sourced from Madagascar, USA, Brazil, Morocco, Italy and China among other places.
