The Fanzone Euro08 was set up in Rathousplatz, just in front of the Rathaus and next to Rathaus Park in Vienna. During the Euro08 football, the Vienna Fanzone covered 120,000 m² with a capacity of 70,000 soccer fans, although most events were attended by up to 20,000 people.

Rathousplats is often used for outdoor events, with seating and big screens, and lined with various food and drinks stalls. In the winter it hosts the annual Christkindlmarkt (Christmas Market). Rathaus stands at the western end of Rathasuplatz. At the other end, across the Ring, is the Burg Theatre.
