As mentioned by the photographer, the beach is also popular for fishing, especially in the winter months. There is camping accommodation at Browns Beach campground, which pit toilets. Visitors are asked to refrain from walking on the sand dunes to protect the fragile ecosystem.

Brown Beach has a good lagoon, suitable for catching salmon, and a Deep Hole where mullet can be caught. The salmon often approach the lagoon from the north, swimming south through the Deep Hole before leaving the beach again.
