Lumphini Park is very popular with locals. Covering some 57.6-hectares (142-acres) next to the business district of Bangkok, the park contains a large boating lake, shown in this image. As Lumphini Park is one of the largest open spaces in central Bangkok, couples often come here in the early evening to relax and find some space.
Created by King Rama VI in 1920, and named after the birthplace of Buddha in Nepal, Lumphini Park also contains a public library, dancehall, playgrounds, open air gyms, jogging track and more.
