The square used to be a disused limestone quarry. Within Queen Square, close to the Town Hall, is a small 'mine shaft' monument commemorating the Copper Centenary (1861-1961).Queen Square is at the heart of Moonta, bounded by George Street, Heny Street, William Street and Robert Street. It is often a focus of the popular Moonta Christmas Pageant.
