The holiday resort of Minehead on the north Somerset Coast, has a mile long beach ending here towards the western end by the old quay. In 1990 much of this beach was washed away in a severe storm, and in 1999 the section nearest to the town was remade at a higher level using imported sand.
The beach is dominated by North Hill which can be seen for miles around, and in the far distance across the sea you can just make out the white roofs of the famous Butlin's Holiday complex, and just to the left are the buildings of the Hinkley Point Nuclear Power Station.

Minehead Beach is one of the local attractions to Minehead in Somerset. The sandy beach runs along the front of the town, with a large Butlins Holiday camp at the eastern end, next to the Minehead and West Somerset Golf Course. A promenade runs along the back of the beach and several hotels overlook it.

At the eastern end of the beach is the small Minehead Harbour, which offers some anchorage for small leisure and fishing boats and has a slipway. Minehead Beach is on the Southwest Coast Path.
