About Minehead
This small coastal town was an important trading port with Wales, providing a good staging post to cross the Severn Estuary for Barry. Mentioned in the 1086 Doomsday Book, it named after 'mynedd', which is Welsh for Mountain. The main economy was based around trading cattle, sheep, wool, butter, fish and coal with Wales. Today, tourism plays an important part.ADDRESS
