Augratensteg and Mura River - FURTHER INFORMATION
Augratensteg and Mura River - Graz visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Augratensteg and Mura River' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Styria.
Augartensteg is a modern bridge across the Mur river in Graz. The aim of the bridge was to link the Gries district on the west bank with Städtischer Augarten park on the eastern side. This gives residents in Gries easy access to a large, and popular park as there are not many large, open spaces in Gries itself.
The bridge is a light design, built of steel and mostly level, thus fitting in well with the surrounding architecture while providing a valuable pedestrian and cycle link across the Mur. Augartensteg was built with from the URBAN urban district programme run by the EU.
Mura (Mur) River
The Mura is an important river in Austria, starting 1898m above sea level in Hohe Tauern, an Austrian National Park. It flows 645km through Austria and Slovenia after which it forms the border between Hungary and Croatia before flowing into the Drava River near Legrad in the Varazdin county of Croatia. Along the route it provides water to several hydroelectric power stations.Within Graz itself the Mura flows almost due north-south, is crossed by several bridges and on it floats the Murinsel, a restaurant and cafe.
