Hilmteich lake is at the edge of the Leech forest in north-east Graz. The lake is used for ice skating in the winter months and boating during the summer. Various paths lead up the hill into the woods, at the top of which is Hilmwarte tower (431m), which contains a weather research station. Next to the lake is a luxurious restaurant, with a balcony overlooking the water.

Hilmteich is on the tram route to Mariatrost, which contains the large Mariatrostkirche church and the Graz Tram Museum.
