Saas-Almagell is the most southern village of Valley Saastal in Wallis in Switzerland , is situated 1600 m above sea level and has about 399 inhabitants. Here there are many hiking trails, some easier and plans, such as around the dam Mattmark, others more difficult and complicated as is the case of Monte - Moro pass through which they can go to Italy. These roads were heavily used by the ancient Romans.
A little further south of Saas Almagell Mattmark Dam is the 2nd largest artificial lake in Europe, with some breathtaking scenery that is worth visiting, the months most advisable to do so are from April to September. Also worth continuing the journey (walking) and Monte Moro pass up to about 2868m, there is Our Lady of Monte Moro, (Maria Border) on the Swiss border with Italy , the contact with nature is unavoidable, the landscape is stunning and an unforgettable tour.
