On the bay is Venus Bay village, which has strong links with fishing and is a port for fishermen fishing the remote Archipelagos in the Southern Ocean. The village is on a small peninsula with the open ocean on one side and the calm waters of Anderson Inlet on the other. Most of the economy comes from fishing, agriculture and tourism.
