Bintulu is a small coastal town in the Bintulu District of Sarawak, Malaysia. Situated about half way between Kuching and Kota Kinabalu, Bintulu has become the tourist gateway to several surrounding regions. Evidence of human habitation in the region dates back some 40,000 years with human remains being found in the Great Niah Caves 120km to the north. With an intensive logging industry, and the discovery of gas off-shore in 1969, Bintulu has undergone rapid growth and development.
