Talia is a small settlement on Flinders Highway on the west coast of the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia. The 'Talia Run' was named by J.H. Browne in 1856 and held by J.T. Symes. The settlement slowly grew and in 1862 a post office opened and it was proclaimed a town in 1883.
Talia - Attractions
:- Talia Woolshed Caves - small caves on the coast.
- Mount Wedge - walk to the top of this 250m high hill for great views.
- Lake Newland Conservation Park - 25km long coastal park north of Elliston full of bird life and other native fauna and flora. Venus Bay - seaside settlement with good fishing.
- Kulliparu Conservation Park - covering 32,000 hectares of intact mallee and broombush habitat full of native wildlife.
- Murphy's Haystacks - pink granite formations carved about 100,000 years ago.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
Car: Talia is about 390km northwest from Adelaide on the Finders Highway. It is 37km north of Elliston and 25km south of Venus Bay.
