Nizbor (Nižbor, Niűbor) is both a village and municipality in the Beroun district of the Central Bohemian region (Středočeský kraj) of the Czech Republic, about 40km west of Prague. The village lies on the banks of the Berounka river, a tributary to the Vltava (Moldau) river. As a municipality, Nizbor also includes Stradonice and Žloukovice.
Nižbor was grew up as worker dwellings around an iron foundry, founded by Ota of Los at the beginning of the 16th century on the permission of King Vladislav. The town was initially called Nové Hutí and later renamed Nižbor.
Nižbor - Tourist Attractions
- Nižbor Bohemia Glass Factory (RÜCKL CRYSTAL) - RÜCKL CRYSTAL is the best and most famous glass factory in the Czech Republic. The Factory offers guided tours, which are popular as part of an excursion from Prague, where visitors learn about the history and art of glass blowing and can also buy Czech Crystal Glass from the factory shop at outlet prices.
- Nižbor Chateau - former 13th century royal Gothic castle on a promontory overlooking the Berounka by King Přemysl Otakar II. The castle was converted into a chateau in the 18th century.
- Nižbor Observatory - constructed at the intersection of the 14th longitudinal and 50th latitudinal lines with a cupola. Stradonice Celtic Oppidum - largest ancient Celtic site in Bohemia, near the village of Stradonice.
- Walking and Hiking - a number of trails lead from Nizbor to Křivoklát and Lány, and there is a camp ground here popular during the summer months.

Car: Nižbor is 40 km west of Prague on the D5/E50 to Beroun and then the 116 road.
