The Crypt of San Miniato al Monte church in Florence is the oldest part of the church. It is reached by descending the steps at the end of either of the aisles in the church. Little about the crypt has changed since it was first built.
The high altar in the crypt is said to contain the bones of St Minias himself, but there is evidence suggesting these were removed to Metz before the church was even built. There are has seven aisles with groin vaults and frescoes by Taddeo Gaddi depicting Saints and Prophets.
