Edinburgh Trams - The Joy of Roadworks - FURTHER INFORMATION
Edinburgh Trams - The Joy of Roadworks - Edinburgh visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Edinburgh Trams - The Joy of Roadworks' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Lothian.
Taken at the junction of Shandwick Street and Queensferry Street in Edinburgh in 2010, this panorama shows the roadworks resulting from the construction of the new Edinburgh Tram system.
The Edinburgh Trams are planned to link Edinburgh Airport with Newhaven and Ocean Terminal in Leith, passing through the center of Edinburgh en route. The first of the new trams arrived in Edinburgh in April 2010 and was parked on Princes Street about half way between Waverley (Edinburgh) Train Station and St John's Church. Overlooking Princes Street Gardens, this tram was opened to the public to give them a taste of what the new service will offer.
Construction of the Edinburgh tram has not been without criticism, not least that the Council has not chosen the most efficient or cost effective tracks to lay, which, it is argued, has both raised cost and lengthened the disruption caused to the center of Edinburgh as a result.
