Krakovec is a small village in the protected Křivoklátsko region south-west of Rakovníka in the Středočeský kraj region of the Czech Republic, about 75km west of Prague. The town is most famous for Hrad Krakovec (Krakovec Castle), the ruins of a 14th century castle in which Jan Hus took refuge.
Krakovec is surrounded by woodland and forest. Three streams, the Šipský, Krakow and Rousínovský, run through the village on their way to Berounka river. This is a rural landscape and the nearby villages include Šipy, Zhor, Krakov, Milíčov and Zavidov. The nearest large town in Rakovnika.
Krakovec - Tourist Attractions
- Hrad Krakovec (Krakovec Castle) - 14th century castle with tower, chapel, Gothic vaulted cellars and a pub.
- Museum and Gallery Marian Týnice - museum about the development of Pilsen in a former Cistercian pilgrimage site near Kralovice, about 20km west of Krakovec.
- Plasy Monastery - huge Cistercian monastery in Plasy, 30km west of Krakovec, founded in 1144 and rebuilt in the 17th and 18th centuries becoming an important center for Baroque art.
- Hrad Křivoklát (Křivoklát Castle) - 12th century castle built for the Bohemian kings today housing a museum with hunting weapons, Gothic paintings and books, in Křivoklát about 25km east of Krakovec.

Car: Hrad Krakovec is 15km south of Rakovnik (229 road and country lanes). It is 75km west of Prague.
Train: Všesulov Station, 5km from the castle.
