The Auld Kirk situated opposite Glenmuick Church in Ballater, was a Scottish Free church built in 1859. In 1986 the Auld Kirk was tastefully converted into a small hotel and restaurant. The hotel, set in the heart of Royal Deeside, within the Caringorms National Park, quickly developed a good reputation for good food and fine hotel service.

In 2006 the Auld Kirk hotel was fully refurbished and re-launced as a 'Restaurant with Rooms' rather than a hotel showing that the primary emphasis is on the restaurant rather than the hotel services. However, the hotel still remains an excellent choice for those seeking to explore Royal Deeside or the Caringorms.
