Söllereck is an Alpine mountain 1706m high in the Allgäu mountains of southern Germany, on the border with Austria and close to Oberstdorf. The mountain is popular for both walking and hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter months. The mountain has various walking trails or the SöllereckBahn, the cable car which ascends 345m up the slopes on a 2,025m long cable.
Söllereck - Tourist Attractions
Walking, stunning Alpine scenery and mountain sports draw people to Sollereck. Among the tourist attractions on the mountain are:- SöllereckBahn - 2025m long cable car carrying visitors to the top of the mountain.
- SkiflugSchanze (Ski Jump) - the 207m high ski jump next to a chairlift is one of the highest in the world, with stunning panoramic views over the mountains from the top.
- SöllereckRodel (Sollereck Toboggan Run) - all year toboggan run down Söllereck where carriages can reach up to 40mph.
- Söllereck Rope Course - the highest rope course in Germany with stunning views of the Allgäu Alps as you skim through tree tops to various landing platforms, open in the summer months.
- Berghaus Schönblick - traditional hotel, restaurant and bar set in amazing scenery on the mountain.
- Geocaching - there are a number of geocaching spots on Söllereck waiting to be discovered while walking.
Söllereck - Skiing and Winter Attractions
Söllereck ski area is accessed by Soellereckbahn a cable car. Söllereck ski resort offers:- 4 ski lifts
- 12 ski slopes
- Blue Runs (easy) - 6km
- Red Runs (intermediate) - 5km
- Easy Fun Ski Park - new addition to Söllereck with various activities for children.
- Höllwieslift - the longest ski lift in Germany and used for the 5 Series for Downhill Giant Slalom ski race.
Söllereck is part of the Oberstdorf/ Söllereck - Höllwies wider skiing area, which combined offers:
- 120 Ski slopes (40 easy, 50 intermediate and 30 difficult pistes)
- 52 ski lifts (8 gondolas, 15 chair lifts and 29 drag lifts) Ski schools - both for alpine (downhill) skiing and snow boarding.
- Snowbiking Schools and opportunities for paragliding and hang gliding off the slopes. Plenty of restaurants, hotels and ski chalets to choose from.
