The Church of St Peter & St Paul was founded by the Chinese Catholic Mission to serve the Chinese and Indian Catholics in Singapore. The first chapel was built here in the 1830's. It also became a centre for Western missionaries to learn Chinese before moving to other areas in China and Asia.
