Fuerteventura - FURTHER INFORMATION
Fuerteventura - Fuerteventura visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Fuerteventura' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Canary Islands.
Fuerteventura is the second largest of the Canary Islands after Tenerife. It is thought that Fuerteventura was first settled by peoples from North Africa, and then by the Phoenicians in the 11th century BC. Today, these Spanish islands rely almost entirely on tourism, who flock here in hundreds of thousands in search of sun, sea and sand.
Like the other Canary Islands, Fuerteventura has a volcanic origin, dating back some 20 million years. As a result it has a rugged, rocky coastline interspersed with small bays and white sandy beaches. The highest point is Mount Jandía (807m).
