Jeparit - FURTHER INFORMATION
Jeparit - Jeparit visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Jeparit' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Victoria.
The small town of Jeparit lies between Dimboola and Rainbow in the depths of Victoria in Australia. Developing on the banks of Wimmera River, Jeparit was occupied by Gromiluk aborigines before Europeans, mostly German Lutherans, arrived in the 1880s and began growing wheat.
Jeparit was the birthplace of Robert Menzies in 1894, who later became Prime Minister of Australia. He is remembered by a monument and the Sir Robert Menzies Park. Just to the north of Jeparit lies Lake Hindmarsh.
Jeparit has a railway station, part of the Yaapeet branch of the Melbourne to Adelaide line. There are 6 grain silos here, but the station is closed and the line has not seen a train since 2007.
