Gawler Ranges National Park covers 163 500 hectares of Australian outback in South Australia. The park was formed in 2002 to conserve the transition zone between the Eyre Peninsula and the Gawler Ranges. The reserve includes a representative sample of the Gawler Ranges Bioregion and biodiversity.

Within Gawler Ranges National Park are 21 rare and endangered animal and plant species including the Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby. The park is home to over 140 species of birds among which are Emu, Major Mitchell Cockatoo, Singing Honeyeater and Wedge-Tailed Eagle.

In addition, the park contains several notable historic sites and landmarks as well as stunning scenic sites and fantastic geology. The park is 40 km north of Wudinna, 40 km north-east of Minnipa. It is open to the public via gravel roads from Kimba, Wudinna or Minnipa and is suitable for 2-wheel drive vehicles. Within the park are a campgrounds at Kododo Hill, Scrubby Peak, Yandinga, Mattera, Kolay Hut, Chillunie, and Waganny, with little to no facilities or amenities apart from toilets at some.

Those that make the effort to visit Gawler Ranges National Park will find a number of attractions and sights of interest. Among the top attractions are:
  • Policemans Point & Old Paney Homestead - an old homestead from the 19th century.
  • Pondanna Outstation and Farm Precinct - a restored homestead where agriculture was attempted early last century.
  • Scrubby Peak Section - he most diverse and scenically spectacular area of the Gawler Ranges.
  • Aboriginal Sites - mainly archaeological and burial sites are found throughout the park.
  • Stone Dam - built by settlers in an attempt to cope with the irregular rainfall in the area.
  • Organ Pipes - one of the largest exposures of volcanic rhyolite columns on earth.
  • Kolay Mirica Falls - one of the best places in the park to explore the Organ Pipes.
  • Paney Bluff and Paney Hill - with stunning views on the walk from Old Paney Homestead to Mattera Campground.
  • Yandinga Gorge - stunning gorge full of wildlife, lizards and home to the rare Yellow-footed Rock Wallaby.
  • Walking - there are a number of hiking trails within the park, be careful to pack enough resources and plenty of water.

Road: Gawler Ranges National Park is about 160km east of Port Lincoln, 460km from Adelaide. It is about 120km from Streaky Bay.
