Cala Viola de Llevant - FURTHER INFORMATION
Cala Viola de Llevant - Menorca visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Cala Viola de Llevant' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Balearic Islands.
Cala Viola de Llevant is on the north coast of Menorca part way up the Cami de Far road on the way to Cap de Cavalleria. This is a small, rocky cala without a beach. The terrain is stark and rugged, and steep, rocky cliffs plunge straight into the sea.
The rugged terrain here has made Cala Viola de Llevant something of a tourist attraction on the drive to the end of cape. Many people stop here and build little monuments in pillars of stone, forming an unusual landscape as you pass by, as seen in this picture.
Further north of Cala Viola de Llevant the road continues to Cap de Cavalleria, the northernmost point on Menorca. Just a little to the south of Cala Viola de Llevant is the Ecomuseu Cap de Cavalleria (Museum of Cap de Cavalleria) which has a small collection of artifacts when the Romans and Phoenicians occupied the Port de Santija (port of Sanisera).
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
Road: From either Ciutadella or Mahon, take the C-721 to Es Mercadal. The head north up the C-723 (Me-15) for about 7km and follow the signs off to the left for Cap de Cavalleria. A little beyond the turning for Cala Tirant this road joins the cf-3, which then heads of to the right to Cap de Cavalleria. At this point the cf-3 is also known as the Cami de Far.
The alternative is to take the cf-3 from Es Mercadal passing Binissarret and Binissaria. At Cavalleria this road becomes known as the Cami de Far.
From Fornells take the C-723 south about 4km and follow the signs for Cap de Cavalleria and Cala Tirant. The road proceeds as described above.
