The Cami de Far, also known as the Camino de Far, is the road that leaves Cavalleria in Menorca and continues north another 5km to the Cap de Cavalleria. On the way this road passes the Ecomuseu Cap de Cavalleria (Museum of Cap de Cavalleria) which has a small collection of artifacts when the Romans and Phoenicians occupied the small 'port' called Port de Santija.
This panoramic photograph was taken from where the road passes very close to Cala Viola de Llevant, a small rocky cala with steep cliffs and no beach. The view from here is dramatic, showing clearly how narrow this peninsula is with the sea being visible on either side. The strange rock pinicles that line the top of the cliff of Cala Viola de Llevant are also clearly visible against the skyline.
Getting There:
From either Cuitadella or Mahon, take the C-721 to Es Mercadal. From Es Mercadal take the cf-3 north passing Binissarret and Binissaria. The cf-3 continues past Estŕncia d'en Magister and passes through Cavalleria when it becomes the Cami de Far.
The alternative is to head 7km north from Es Mercadal (4km south from Fornells) along the C-723 (Me-15) and then west along the road signposted for Cala Tirant and Cap de Cavalleria. This small lane joins the cf-3 a little beyond Cala Tirant.
