The Stadtpark Franz Joseph Fountain forms one of the focal points of the Stadtpark in Graz. The fountain was acquired from the 1873 Vienna World Exhibition and is surrounded by modern sculptures resembling upturned umbrellas. It is one of the main sights in Graz.
Stadtpark is the largest park in the city. The fountain stands close to the Forum Stadtpark, a popular restaurant and exhibition space. Also within the park are formal gardens, based on English gardens, and tree-lined walks. It is very popular in the summer months with visitors and locals alike.
First opening in 1873, Stadtpark starts at the base of the eastern slopes of Schlossberg, and runs south behind the Burg and Burggarten to Fisher-Allee. Another section of Stadtpark continues south beyond this main road.
