Afonso de Albuquerque Square is located in Belém in Lisbon, Portugal area of historical significance at the time of the Portuguese Discoveries.
This square was built in memory of the Viceroy of India, consists of a small garden with several artificial lakes and statues, among which stands in the center square in a column neo manuelina the bronze statue of Afonso de Albuquerque. This square was the old beach where anchored the Royal quay Belem, and the statue is in place where it stood in the dock D. John V.
In front of the Afonso de Albuquerque Square found the Coches Museum and the Belém National Palace, official residence of the Portuguese President.
