Le Louvre - Entrance Pyramid

Photographer Description of Le Louvre - Entrance Pyramid

This panorama was hand held. The Louvre does not allow tripods inside the museum. It was quite a challenge to be able to get a sensible panorama of this view of the entrance hall. Firstly there were a lot of people moving around, and then stitching the individual images together to form the composite panoramic picture took a lot of time setting the point. PTGui was used. All the panoramas in and around Le Louvre complex were hand held.

Le Louvre - Entrance Pyramid - Further Information

The Louvre is probably the most popular tourist attraction in Paris, housing the Mona Lisa and numerous other very important works of art. Also within le Louvre are the apartments of Napoleon (now resting inside the Eglise du Dome, another popular tourist attraction).

Famous and immensely popular tourist attractions within the museum include the Mona Lisa painting in the Denon Wing and the apartments of Napoleon III in the Richelieu Wing.

The Pyramid stands in the center of the Cour Napoléon and the entrance to le Louvre is on the north face. There can be long queues outside waiting to enter the museum. From here visitors descend to the entrance hall to buy tickets and then move off to the various galleries. The Pyramide of the Louvre was made even more famous by Dan Brown in his novel The da Vinci Code
