The panorama was taken by James Cann, a short distance from the Grande Arche (Grande Arche de la Fraternité or Arche de la Défense) on the A14, near the west end of the Avenue Charles de Gaulle.Axe HistoriqueThe Axe Historique (Historic Axis) is a 9km line cutting through the center of Paris linking the Arche de la Défense in the west with the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel in front of Le Louvre in the east. On the way the Axe Historique passes numerous major land marks and attractions in Paris. From the Grande Arche the line proceeds down Avenue Charles de Gaulle and Avenue de Neuilly to Place do la Prote Maillot, upon which stands the Palais des Congrès. The Axe historique then continues down the Avenue de la Grande Armée to the Arc de Triomphe and then on down the Champs Elysees through the Place de la Concorde and down the middle of the Jardain des Tuileries to finish at the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel in front of Le Louvre Museum.
