Redwood City is a California Charter City, part of the conurbation on the San Francisco Peninsula about 25 miles south of San Francisco and 6 miles north of Palo Alto. Prior to the arrival of Europeans, Redwood City was home to the Ohlone peoples and covered in forests. Today, much of the forest is gone and Redwood City is home to around 75,000 people and several high-tech and computer industries, like EA Games.
Redwood City - Tourist & Visitor Attractions
Redwood City is not a large tourist destination in it's own right, but there are a number of visitor and tourist attractions nearby. Not least are all the attractions of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge and Marin Headlands a short distance north. Other, local, attractions include:- San Mateo County History Museum - housed in the old County Courthouse with historical and other exhibits about San Mateo County.
- Hiller Aviation Museum - museum covering 100 years of aviation .
- Golden Gate Railroad Museum (GGRM) - containing steam and passenger railroad equipment, with exhibits of the railroad history in the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Museum of American Heritage (MOAH) - museum showing how developments in technology and design have influenced society through the ages.
- Fox Theatre Redwood City - opened in 1929 in the heart of Redwood City, the Fox Theatre continues to offer first-class shows an entertainment in luxurious settings.
- Malibu Redwood City - popular go-cart racing track with Malibu Castle, golf course and other entertainment.
- Filoli - one of the finest remaining country estates of the early 20th century with Filoli House and Garden.
- Lathrop House - early Gothic house built in 1863 and moved to it's current site on Hamilton Street in 1905.
- County Parks and Regional Spaces - are numerous around Redwood City, including Edgewood County Park, Purisima Creek Open Space Preserve, Stulsaft Park, Huddart County Park, Pulgas Ridge Regional Open Space and Big Canyon Park.

TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
Road: Redwood City is bounded by IH280 to the west and H100 to the east. The city centre is on the CA-82. It is 6.5 miles north of Palo Alto and 8 miles south of San Mateo (26 miles south of San Francisco).
