Little Scatwell - FURTHER INFORMATION
Little Scatwell - Scottish Highlands visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Little Scatwell' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Highland.
Panorama of the small house of Little Scatwell in the Scottish Highlands. Little Scatwell is a very tiny settlement off the A835 about 21 miles north of Inverness in Scotland. Next to the main house is a beautiful lake. The surrounding area in this panorama is typically scenic of well managed croft land with small scale tenant farmers working the land with livestock.
The one-lane road to Lilttle Scatwell from the A835 passes by Loch Achilty and then along the River Meig before arriving at Little Scatwell. Further down the valley the road crosses over a very narrow dam at the head of Loch Meig. From here there is a T-junction. The road west continues up the valley to Strathconan. The road east heads back down the valley past Loch Achonachie and the River Conon to the small town of Marybank, near to Dingwall, Muir of Ord, Beauly and Inverness.
Further up the A835 are the Rogie Falls, a popular tourist attraction in the area with woodland walks through Rogie Falls Park to a waterfall and salmon "ladder", a series of in-river stairs that salmon swimming upsteam climb up by leaping spectacularly into the air to ascend. Just beyond Rogie Falls is a popular transport cafe at Tarvie.
Travel and Getting There:
From Inverness take the A9 and then A835 past Dingwall. The unmarked road to Little Scatwell turns left off the A835 just west of Contin, opposite the Achilty Hotel.
An alternative route is to turn off the A835 to Marybank and then follow the road Loch Achonachie to Loch Meig. At the Loch Meig turn right over the dam and follow the track round to Little Scatwell. Little Scatwell is about 25 miles from Inverness.
