Bourke Post Office in Oxley Street was constructed in 1880 and is of historical significance as it has been the centre of communications for the northwestern outback of New South Wales for over 100 years. The building reflects the prosperity of Bourke during the river boat era. Opposite the Post Office is the nearly as old Post Office Hotel built in 1888.
