Val Gardena is a well know valley and tourist destination in the Dolomites, where the mountains touch the sky. The valley is popular for mountain sports all year round, offering a variety of summer and winter activities.
Walking and climbing are among the top activities in the region, with the mountains and stunning panoramic views being the top tourist attractions. Views like this spectacular view from Passo Sella to the Sassolungo Group await those willing to make the climb.
The Passo Sella (Sella Pass, Sellajoch) reaches 2244m in the Dolomites, connecting Val Gherdëina in Bolzano-Bozen and Canazei in the Val di Fassa. The pass navigates around the Sella group of mountains, and is used extensively throughout the year, with ski lifts linking the two valleys in the winter and forming part of the Maratona dles Dolomites (Dolomites Marathong) one day cycle race.
Val Garden - Skiing
Val Gardenis well suited for skiing and other winter sports. Popular resorts within the valley include Selva, Santa Cristina and Ortisei. Together these offer 175km of perfectly groomed slopes popular with skiers and snow-boarders of all abilities. 83 modern ski-lifts make access to all parts of the mountains easy and fast. The valley often hosts international skiing races and competitions, including the Saslong Downhill course, considered one of the five classic downhill races on a par with the Lauberhorn (SUI) race in Wengen.TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
