Panorama of Loch Achilty in Ross-shire, the eastern Highlands of Scotland.

Loch Achilty covers 100 acres. It lies between Loch Garve to the north and Loch Achonachie to the south, about three miles west of Strathpeffer and about 21 miles north of Inverness on the A835.

This loch is well known for good fishing, and is stocked with trout for fly fishing from boats. It is therefore popular fly fishermen visiting Scotland. The fishery that stocks Loch Achilty is found in Strathpeffer.

Further down the valley, past Little Scatwell, a very narrow dam crosses Loch Meig, whose water feeds into Loch Achonachie and the River Conon. Further up the A835 are the Rogie Falls, a popular tourist attraction in the area with a suspension bridge crossing high above the falls, viewpoint overlooking the falls and bridge and accessed by a short walk across a large area of scenic woodland with different levels of paths to explore in Rogie Falls Park.

Travel and Getting There:
Loch Achilty is accessed by a small road just west of the village of Contin while travelling west from Dingwall or Inverness. The road forms a loop around the lochs returning across the Loch Meig Dam exiting just east of Contin via Marybank near Muir of Ord.
