Moulamein is the oldest town in the Riverina region of New South Wales with a population of about 500, 842 km south-west of Sydney. Despite its distance from the coast the town is only 67m above sea-leval.
Moulamein was settled in 1830 and is a small service town on the Edward River. The large grain silos at the railway tracks indicate the agricultural importance of the region.
During the paddle steamer period Moulamein had a port on Edward River and part of the wharf is the only remaining historic structure.
Moulamein offers a small range of accommodation and restaurants.
