Perranporth is a seaside resort town on the north coast of Cornwall between Newquay and St Agnes on Perran / Ligger Bay. The name is Cornish and translates as Saint Piran's cove and the town is named after Saint Piran, the patron saint of Cornwall. Traditionally a fishing village, today Perranporth has become a popular tourist attractions with a large surfing beach backed by dunes. Each October Perranporth hosts the Lowender Peran, an inter-Celtic festival which draws people in from the six Celtic nations.
Perranporth - Tourist Attractions
Most of the tourist attractions in Perranporth focus around the beach and dunes. Among the popular activities and attractions are:- Perranporth Beach - great for surfing, kite surfing and other sports. Care must be taken when swimming around Ligger Point a the northern end due to rip tides.
- Penhale Sands - area of sands and dunes extending a mile inland near the northern end of Perranporth Beach among which are the remains of St Piran's church and St Piran's Oratory.
- Reen Sands - found near the southern end of Perranporth with a golf course.
- Coastal Formations - at the southern end of the beach are natural arches, natural stacks and tin-mining adits.
- Cligga Head - headland on the cliffs southwest of Perranporth rising to 90m on which is a civil airfield, built for the RAF during WWII.
- Holywell Bay Golf Club - on the site of Trevornick Holiday Park at Holywell, 5 miles north of Perranporth.
- Scenic Flights - available along with flying lessons from Perranporth Aerodrome giving stunning aerial views of the whole region.
- Perranporth Country Market - held every Friday in Memorial Hall selling local goods, food and crafts.
- Perranporth Gardens - maintained by Perranporth Gardens Charities these series of lakes and gardens run from the embankment in Perrancoombe down to the seafront promenade, with activities in the summer months.
- Perranzabuloe Museum - museum giving an insite to the social and industrial past of Perranporth.
- Walking - the South West Coast Path (SWCP) runs through Perranporth and along the beach and bay.

Road: Perranporth lies on the B3285, just off the A3075, 8 miles south of Newquay, 8 miles north of Truro and 20 miles north-east of Hayle.
