Kyle - A890 Cutting of Mica Schist - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
I just had to do it really. I have never seen mica schist exposed in such a manner. The sunlight really picked out the shine in these rocks, with the blues and greens shimmering with unreal colours. Of course, this being Scotland, by the time I had set up the camera to take this panorama, the clouds had moved and sunlight was not going to happen for quite some time. Oh well.

Kyle - A890 Cutting of Mica Schist - Scottish Highlands visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Kyle - A890 Cutting of Mica Schist' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Highland.
Panorama showing a cutting on the A890 in Scotland. This cutting on the crest of a hill and offers the first glimpse of Loch Alsh if you are coming from Achnasheen. It is just a short distance up the road from a fantastic viewpoint over Auchtertyre and Loch Alsh. This panoramic photograph shows the blue / green shine colour of the exposed mica schist that runs through the cutting. This is very unusual, and may be the only cutting of it's kind in Scotland. People mostly blast though it on the way to and from Kyle of Lochalsh without a second thought.
