Bachelors Acre is a small park covering 1 hectare near the center of Windsor. The park contains an interactive fountain / water feature (which children delight to play in) and a children's playground. Within the park are toilets and a refreshment kiosk.
In the Middle Ages, Bachelors Acre was a meeting place, occasional fairground and market for local produce. Until 1855 the famous Annual Revel celebrations on the birthday of the monarch were held in the Acre. Bachelors Acre also includes part of the original Acre Grave Yard, accessed through Charles Knight Gateway on Madeira Walk. Some of the memorial stones are still legible today.
