The Cumberland Obelisk in Windsor Great Park was erected by King George II in honour of his son, the Duke of Cumberland. An inscription on the obelisk reads:

This Obelisk raised by command of King George II commemorates the services of his son William Duke of Cumberland the success of his arms and the gratitude of his father. This tablet was inscribed by His Majesty King William IV.'

The Obelisk stands in a clearing between Savill Garden and Obelisk Pond. There is a refreshment kiosk in the clearing and a car park nearby.

TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE

Car: There are several car parks around the various attractions within the park along the A332, A329 and A30.
Flight: Heathrow Airport, 12 miles east of Windsor.
Road: Windsor is close to junction 6 of the M4, about 30 miles west of central London and 8 miles from the M25.
Train: Windsor & Eton Central Rail Station, Windsor & Eton Riverside Rail Station.
